8 ply wool (per 5 balls) - Ashford
This yarn takes its name from the beautiful Lake Tekapo, located just 90 minutes southwest of Ashburton. The lake, surrounded by snow-capped glacier peaks, is famous for its turquoise color caused by its suspended ice dust. It was in this magical place that in 1857, one of the first sheep farms in New Zealand was born. The fleeces used come from farms in this country and are processed and spun in a small local factory.
This semi-combed yarn is a mixture of corriedale and perendale specially designed for softness and resistance. It is ideal for knitting or weaving to create clothing, accessories and other knit or felt projects.
